Marlena Klassen

Marlena is a seasoned HR professional with expertise in strategy, execution and employee relations while supporting and leading organizations across Canada. Originally from Ontario, Marlena graduated from Guelph University and completed a co-operative education HR Management program through Sheridan College which gained her quick entry with an evolving HR career that started off in the food & beverage, food processing, home security and automotive industries.
Answering to a calling of love, Marlena relocated to the Saskatchewan Prairies and held HR Manager roles in manufacturing companies leading HR teams, gaining operational safety and quality expertise, and led non-union companies through engagement strategy and culture transformation.
Her span of influence broadened as Marlena and her family relocated to Yellowknife, NWT to lead the employee relations, performance management and remuneration programs for a global mining giant, BHP Billiton. After being congratulated on her contributions towards successful negotiations with the union, Marlena returned to Saskatoon, SK with BHP to develop the labour relations strategy for the first BHP potash project.
