Strategies to Retain Top Talent: Keeping your business moving forward

It’s almost that time of year again! Do I dare say it? As August quickly rolls by, September and Q4 are right around the corner. This is the time of year when businesses come off their summer breaks and prepare for the hard push to the end of the year. Are you ready?

One area that always picks up around this time of year is hiring. How is your company engaging with Top Talent? Forbes released a fantastic article highlighting strategies organizations can use to engage top talent. We have written about talent retention and engagement before, but since it is such a massive part of any business, we always want to highlight it. People are the center of a business's lifeblood and keeping the workforce happy and engaged helps to mediate many avoidable hurdles along the way.

As we surge ahead into the final leg of 2022, some things Forbes Expert Panel (2022) suggests keeping in mind to keep your talent engaged are:

  • Take care of your employees’ mental health

  • Create a culture with open communication

  • Embrace what makes each employee different

  • Let Employees own their ideas

  • Evaluate questions to understand what candidates are looking for

  • Give employees flexibility

  • Represent the company accurately

Finally, the action that stood out the most while reading this article is that companies should align the company vision and leadership’s actions. This is important within any business because there is no point in having a vision if leadership lacks the ability to drive the organization towards that vision.

When employees know what they are working towards and the leadership team empowers the employees in a sense that everyone is working towards the same vision and common goal, workforce engagement increases.
